About This Tool

The Video Variation Editor is a browser-based video preview tool that lets you experiment with trim points, text overlays, and visual adjustments before committing to a full edit. Upload any short video clip (under 60 seconds), adjust the trim start and end points, add a text overlay with custom position and colour, and control brightness and contrast โ€” all rendered live on an HTML canvas.

This free preview version is ideal for planning your video edits before moving to your main editing software. The canvas preview gives you an instant sense of how the overlay and adjustments will look. Full mp4 export with all edits applied is available in the Pro version.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No. The video is processed entirely in your browser using the HTML5 Video and Canvas APIs. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. Your file stays on your device at all times.

What video formats are supported?

Any format your browser supports โ€” typically MP4 (H.264), WebM, and MOV. Most modern browsers handle MP4 and WebM natively. Very large files may slow down the canvas rendering.

Why is the canvas preview pixelated on some videos?

The canvas scales to the container width. If the source video has a very high resolution, the canvas may downsample it. This is a display-only effect โ€” the source video is unchanged.

What does the Pro version add?

The Pro version adds full mp4 export with all edits applied โ€” trim, text overlay, brightness, and contrast โ€” using ffmpeg.wasm, which processes the video locally without uploading it. Available in the Pro Intelligence Tools suite.
