⚠️ Fee estimates only — based on UK Etsy rates as of 2024. Verify current rates at etsy.com/uk/fees.
Etsy charges three main fees on every sale: a listing fee of £0.16 per item, a transaction fee of 6.5% on the item price plus any shipping you charge, and a payment processing fee of 4% plus £0.20 per transaction. These add up fast, especially on lower-priced items.
This calculator adds all three fees together so you can see exactly what Etsy takes and what lands in your account. Use it before setting your prices to make sure your margins hold up after platform costs.
Listing fee — £0.16 per item listed. Charged when you list and again when it auto-renews after a sale.
Transaction fee — 6.5% of the total amount the buyer pays, including shipping. This is Etsy's main revenue cut.
Payment processing fee — 4% + £0.20 per order for Etsy Payments (UK). This covers card processing and varies by country.
Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee applies to both the item price and any shipping amount you charge the buyer. Only the payment processing fee is applied to the combined total. This catches many sellers off guard.
Outside the three main fees, Etsy can charge for optional Offsite Ads (12–15% if you generate a sale through their ads) and Etsy Ads if you run on-platform ads. Pattern (Etsy's website builder) is a monthly subscription if you use it.
Work backwards. Decide what net profit you want per item, then add your production costs, packaging and postage. Then divide by (1 - effective fee rate) to find the price you need to charge.
The listing fee and transaction fee are the same globally, but payment processing fees vary by country. UK sellers pay 4% + £0.20. US sellers pay 3% + $0.25. Always check Etsy's fee page for your region.
